Replacement Dentistry
Sometimes, either from injury, crack. or decay, teeth cannot be saved and need to be extracted.
Unfortunately, this is relatively common, but there are options to replace those teeth.
Implants
Your teeth are something you’ll need for the rest of your life.
If you have decayed or missing teeth, implants can be a great option to restore the integrity of your smile.
Dental implants are becoming an increasingly popular choice for patients suffering from tooth loss. Unlike bridges and crowns, dental implants are directly fused with the jaw. This provides a stronger foundation for replacement teeth while offering the stability of a natural tooth root. Dental implants look and feel like your real teeth, which can provide a more comfortable fit and ease of use.
A 3-D dental x-ray will need to be taken to make sure your bone is healthy and strong enough to receive an implant.
Our dental implants:
Improve a patient’s appearance, comfort, and speech
Eliminate the need for removable replacement teeth such as dentures, and provide a permanent option for patients
Prevent a variety of potential risks commonly associated with tooth loss, including jaw deterioration, lost lip and mouth support, more visibly noticeable wrinkles around the mouth and collapsed facial profiles
Bridges
Bridges are a great, non-removable option to replace missing teeth.
For a bridge, the outer layers of the neighboring teeth are removed to prepare them for permanent crowns and a replacement tooth is suspended in the middle of the two crowns. Due to the fact that we need to reduce the structure of the neighboring teeth, we usually only recommend bridges if implants are not ideal or if the neighboring teeth have already had dental work done.
Partial and Complete Dentures
If you’re looking to fill in the gap of missing teeth, look no further than Glenwood Village Dentistry.
If replacing missing teeth with bridges and implants are not an option, complete and partial dentures provide increased jaw support and a pleasing esthetic to complete your beautiful smile. We offer a variety of options to help us create a restorative solution that is the perfect fit for you and your lifestyle. Our denture and partial procedures are completed with the utmost skill, technology, and care to provide you with a beautiful, functional smile that’s built to last.
Complete Dentures
Dentures are utilized when a patient is missing a whole set of teeth on the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both. Depending on your needs, dentures can be either implant-retained or traditional.
Implant-retained dentures are secured to the mandible, offering superior stability when eating, drinking, and chewing
Traditional dentures are less invasive and easier to remove
Partial Dentures
If a patient is only missing a few teeth (rather than an entire row), partial dentures may be a good option. Whereas dentures are secured directly to the gums or jaw bone, partials stay in place by connecting to the healthy and strong teeth around the missing area.
