3-D and Digital X-Ray Technology

We’re passionate about our patients’ overall health, which is why Glenwood Village Dentistry is proud to offer patients cutting-edge technology through the use of Digital 2-D and 3-D x-rays. Our advanced x-ray equipment provides patients with 80% less exposure to harmful radiation. By using this kind of exposure, we can better diagnose and treat issues inside of your mouth.

One of the most important elements in dental care, x-rays help dentists see underlying causes of pain, disease, and more.

With thorough analysis of these images, we can diagnose and treat problems like tooth decay, impacted teeth, and pathology. Digital x-rays are also a way to assess the status of already performed procedures, like crowns, fillings, oral surgeries, and more.

3-D x-rays are becoming the gold standard in dental care. While these x-rays are only prescribed in certain situations, they are very useful in implant planning and helping Dr. D’Orazio and Dr. Pinnix visualize disease and pathology that would otherwise not be diagnosed.

ViziLite Plus - Oral Cancer Screening

At Glenwood Village Dentistry, we believe in taking preventative measures when it comes to your health, which is why we recommend ViziLite Plus oral cancer screenings.

Oral cancer is 90% curable if found early.

However, approximately 70% of oral cancer lesions are not visible until they are already at an advanced stage. This simple and pain-free procedure helps Dr. D’Orazio and Dr. Pinnix identify abnormalities or cancerous cells early on.

How Does it Work?

When ViziLite Plus cancer screening technology passes over tissue, the healthy tissue will appear dark, while anything abnormal will turn white. This color differentiation makes it clear where trouble spots are located in the mouth and as a result, immediate action can be taken. It is important to have this kind of screening done every year, because early detection can help us diagnose any underlying dental problems that need to be dealt with or investigated further.

The Wand® STA instrument

Drs. D’Orazio and Pinnix know that the #1 reason patients avoid the dentist is the dreaded “shot.” With STA, injections are no big deal. Studies have shown that STA is significantly less painful than a traditional injection. Our extra gentle technique paired with our powerful desensitizing jelly and our STA machine make injection and getting numb easy.

Isolite

Isolite isolation systems are used for most procedures Dr. D’Orazio performs.

This technology makes appointments easier and quicker for patients, allowing them to get their dental work completed and then get on with their day. This product also significantly decreases the aerosols that are emitted, making a much safer environment in a post-COVID-19 world. The small mouthpiece helps our patients easily stay open, stay dry, and keeps the tongue and cheek out of the way and safe from harm.
